TRIANGLE Episode 9

Episode 9 is chuck full of orders, schemes, and a pinch of reunion as the story line gets underway.

Young Dal has successfully pulled a fast one on the underground casino. To celebrate, he takes out Jung Hee to a fancy restaurant outside of Sabuk. During dinner, Young Dal makes a confession of sorts. He starts off by thanking her for spending time with him despite his reputation. He says he realizes the shameful life he has been leading after meeting her. Instead of being shameful of his life, he tells her he is making changes. Jung Hee is quietly looking on while listening to his confession. When they return home, Jung Hee tells Young Dal that he is no different from her and that he shouldn't be embarrassed around her. Both head in with smiles on their faces, especially Young Dal who is seen cheesing it up in his room long after the conversation is over.

Dong Soo pays a visit to Chairman and agrees to work with him. He also meets Yang Ha and shakes hands - cue in the dramatic editing which consists of different angles and camerawork of the hand shake that lasts 20 seconds. After the meeting, Dong Soo gets a call from Shin Hye and agreed to meet up outside of the Dae-Jung building. During his wait, two vans pulled up full of Go Bok Tae's men ready to take him down. As courageous as big brother was, he just couldn't fight off all the men and was taken away. Shin Hye witnesses the scene and acts.

Young Dal meets up with Go Bok Tae, who acknowledges his successful scheme and orders him to do it again at Dae-Jung Casino. Before he could verbally agree to anything, he joins Big Boss Go on an outing to the warehouse where Dong Soo is.  Big Boss Go exchanges some words with Dong Soo before Young Dal is ordered to take him out. Young Dal hesistates at first, staring at Dong Soo with a conflicted look in his eyes. Dong Soo gives him a slight nod. Big Boss questions why Young Dal isn't doing anything, which pressures him to move closer. As he stares on, Young Dal shakes his head slightly with the same conflicted look. Dong Soo nods again to give him the go ahead. So Young Dal does, but the conflicted look is still apparent. After a few punches, Big Boss tells his men he wants Dong Soo dead. Luckily for Dong Soo, his old team shows up to the rescue thanks to Shin Hye's quick thinking. Big Boss and Young Dal get away.

Now in the hospital, Dong Woo declares to everyone he will take down Go Bok Tae himself without the law. Everyone looks at him hopelessly because they know they can't stop him. A little while later, Young Dal pays Dong Soo a visit to apologize. Dong Soo doesn't care for the apology, but he tells Young Dal that he has to prove himself to Go Bok Tae and become one of his men.

Yang Ha is hard at work after being named director. The first matter taken care of is transferring two employees who've been working with Hyun Pil Sang, his father's right hand man. When confronted by Pil Sang, Yang Ha reveals that he knows Pil Sang has been leaking information to Go Bok Tae. Since he works closely with his father, Yang Ha spared him, but leaves him with a warning. Later in the day, Jung Hee barges into Yang Ha's office wanting to know why he would toy with her by having her work in the VIP rooms. Yang Ha tells her the reason she was transferred to the VIP rooms was because she had experience from the time she was a dealer at the underground casino. He also wanted to give her an opportunity. Now frustrated, he tells her she can't see the opportunity that has been given to her because she lives without any dreams and goals. He also made a snide remark saying because she lives like this, she'll start hanging out with bad folks (aka Young Dal). His words linger as she makes it home to see Young Dal and her family having dinner outdoors. She avoids him and finds refuge in her room as Yang Ha's advice is replayed over in her head.

President Min uses her connections to find out of any schemes that have occurred at Dae-Jung Casino in the past. With her new knowledge, she informs Young Dal it is impossible for him to pull anything over the casino. But this doesn't stop him. Young Dal, Jang Soo, and Jerry are plotting away in their new office in the underground casino. What they don't know is Man Kang has installed a camera in their office and has found out the truth about their prior scheme in addition to how they plan on doing it again. He shares this information with Madame Jang and Noonim. They in turn take this information to the casino. Yang Ha is informed of this and starts planning how he'll catch Young Dal red handed.

It is now time for their plan to start. Young Dal and crew strut into the casino in their suits. Once he makes it into the VIP room, he is slightly taken aback after seeing Jung Hee as the dealer. Yang Ha is watching the scene in the comforts of his office when Dong Soo drops by. Ready to work, Dong Soo is ordered to take care of Pil Sang.

Thoughts:
Game on. Everyone is actively playing their side. Dong Soo makes the decision to work with the Chairman even though he knows the truth of how his father was killed. Dong Soo seems like a smart guy so you could tell he has his own plan up his sleeve. Young Dal seems to be on a lucky streak. He has gained the interest of Big Boss Go and successfully pulled off a gambling scheme. But what comes up must come down. I'm waiting to see when and how his luck changes. Yang Ha does his research. Since he has fully accepted and understands his role as director, he wastes no time in cleaning up his staff and strategizes to keep the company together.
As we see the lines divided, there are also some blurred lines. Dong Soo appears to believe Young Dal is ultimately on his side, but I don't see anything concrete that indicates Young Dal feels the same way. Sure, we see him hesitate when it comes to anything with Dong Soo, but is he really going through with becoming a part of Big Boss's crew for Dong Soo or for his own benefit? Young Dal has shown his greedy and ambituous sides so I wouldn't put it pass him if he is doing all of this for his own benefit.
