TRIANGLE Episode 23

Last call for bets... where does one's loyalty lie?

Dong Soo arrives to the hospital and gets the update from Young Dal about Elder's condition. We learn from Elder's man that it was a hit and run and that there were no witnesses. Young Dal has a weird feeling about the situation. Dong Soo is on it and calls his team to look into it. Jang Soo gets the update via call. He informs the crew who are waiting beside him. President Min is worried about Young Dal if the worse were to happen and Elder passes away. She is afraid he will be eaten alive at Dae-Jung. Man Bok deducts their enemies were responsible. Jerry agrees, saying it is very likely.

Chairman and Yang Ha are discussing this matter in the office. Yang Ha asks if Chairman had Bok Tae do this. Chairman denies it, saying he doesn't trust Bok Tae anymore. He shares that he had Pil Sang do this. Yang Ha reminds him how Pil Sang can betray them at any time. Chairman says this is something they can hang over his head. His greed for the heir title drove him to do this. If he were to say the truth, it will only make things worse for him. Yang Ha leaves the meeting in a daze. His conversations with Shin Hye and Dong Soo replay in his head.

Chairman shares with Jin Soo how he gave the task of getting rid of Young Dal to Yang Ha. He can't help, but doubt if Yang Ha can actually do it. He asks Jin Soo to watch him and report back. Jin Soo questions if what he is having Yang Ha do is too cruel. Chairman wants to know what he should do then. He questions if he wants Yang Ha stolen away from him by Dong Soo and Young Dal. He concludes that if doesn't do this, Yang Ha will stab him in the back.

Young Dal watches over Elder at the hospital. Now outside the room, Dong Soo and Young Dal discuss the matter. Dong Soo feels the accident was intentional. Without a doubt, Young Dal believes Chairman did this. Dong Soo warns him not to go around talking without evidence. Young Dal can't let this go even for Dong Woo's sake. If Yang Ha wants to stay loyal to Chairman, then he can't forgive him. He tells Dong Soo he'll fall victim too if he let's it go. Young Dal knows this was a message that they want to get rid of him. He can't sit back if they are after him. Knowing he is right, all Dong Soo can do is sigh.

Bok Tae gets the update on Elder. He is more pissed that Chairman went ahead with things without him. To show him up, he declares he'll eliminate Young Dal before Chairman can. His man breaks the news that President Min's men took out their guys. Bok Tae calls President Min and warns her not to block his path. President Min doesn't take his threats to heart. She tell him to stop with all this talk if he isn't going to kill her with his bare hands. After the call, Bok Tae questions if he lost his touch. He orders his man to take care of her in one blow.

Leader Bae tells Yang Ha about the deal between Anderson Group and Hanchang Group. Just then, Young Dal angrily enters. Before he leaves, Leader Bae is threatened by Young Dal. Yang Ha assures Leader Bae no such thing will happen. Young Dal cuts straight to the chase, if Yang Ha can't acknowledge Chairman's crimes and cut ties, then both Yang Ha and Chairman are going to pay for the crimes. As long as Yang Ha is Chairman's shadow, they have no relationship. Yang Ha smugly says Young Dal took the words right from him. He shares how he is going to have Young Dal dismissed at the board meeting later. In his office, Young Dal shares this news with the crew. To prevent this from happening, they either have to stop the meeting or find a different solution.

Yang Ha goes to the driving range to casually bump into Yeon Jung Woo from Lucky Casino. He tries to get information about the deal and to find out if Miss Sung is part of it. Later, he goes to a cosmetics store to buy a gift. At a coffee shop, Miss Sung arrives to a waiting Yang Ha. He gives her the gift he picked out. She isn't impressed in the least bit. Yang Ha brings up the sincerity she wants to see, but to her, there is nothing sincere about the gift. She asks what it is he really wants. Yang Ha brings up the investment deal before she cuts him off. She shares how she has Young Dal involved in the deal. Yang Ha pleads with her that he'll do anything as long it isn't Young Dal. Based on his actions, Miss Sung says she made the right choice by going with Young Dal. Before she leaves, she tells Yang Ha she will think about it if starts making an effort.

Young Dal and Pil Sang cross paths. Pil Sang knows about the meeting. Young Dal tells him to worry about himself. He shares how he knows all about Pil Sang's alliance with Bok Tae. Pil Sang calls him out on his disrespectful tone. Young Dal fires back that Pil Sang's words are a waste of his time. Pil Sang angrily grabs him by the collar and calls him a thug. Young Dal takes a swing at Pil Sang and knocks him to the ground. He tells him to get lost or suffer more humiliation. Junho tries to check him on his behavior. Young Dal is too angry to control himself. Pil Sang meets up with Leaer Hwan. She shares information about the real relationship between Young Dal and Yang Ha and suggests using Young Dal to get rid of Yang Ha.

Jung Hee and Dong Soo finally meet, but without Young Dal knowing. Dong Soo is worried about what Young Dal might do and believes Jung Hee is the only one who can calm him down. Jung Hee assures him she'll do what she can. Dong Soo tells her about Young Dal's dream to get married. He asks her to help make the dream come true. Because they have the same dream, Jung Hee believes it'll come true. There is something Jung Hee wanted to ask. She asks if Dong Soo's family lived at the mine dormitory, which he answers yes. She reaches into her bag and pulls out a picture. She asks if Young Dal is the boy in the picture. Dong Soo is surprised to see the picture and tells her the boy is indeed Young Dal. She tells him she is the girl in the picture.

Chairman has set up a meeting with Shin Hye. He tells her how he wants to end the conflict. He says he is willing to forgive them for Yang Ha's sake if they back out of their plan. He wants Shin Hye to relay the message. Shin Hye tells him he needs psychiatric help. She says he feels like he is the center of the world and has no guilt from the crimes he has committed. She says this is a severe mental illness. The way he is using Yang Ha is an even more serious condition. She tells him her stance: she won't stand to see Yang Ha hurt or tortured by Chairman any more. Chairman smiles at her and says he just added another name to his list of enemies.

Young Dal gets a text from Jung Hee, asking to meet at the rooftop. When they meet, Jung Hee tells him how she met his brother. To stop herself from nagging, she tells him how everyone is worried about him. He assures her there is nothing to worry about. Changing the subject, Jung Hee asks who his first love was. He wants to know what is up with the sudden question. She says she is his eternal love before jokingly ask if his first love was actually Noonim. He wonders why she is bringing up that embarrassing past. She tries asking again about his first love. He answers that he can't remember. He was told she used to live next door to him when they were kids. Jung Hee pulls out her picture and asks if the girl in the picture was his first love. Surprised, he asks how she has this picture. She confesses that she is his first love.

Dong Soo is on the case. He gets word that there isn't footage of the incident found. All they can come up with is a suspect list. Dong Soo tells the team to add Pil Sang and another man on the list. Later on, he meets up with Shin Hye. She tells him all about her meeting with Chairman. She then shares about her new position in the US, working with the FBI. The position is for 2 years. She researched schools for Dong Soo as well. She tells him it is time for him to start new.

Young Dal is looking at his old picture with Jung Hee and their fathers. Junho enters and hands over information from Hanchang Group. Young Dal shows him the picture and asks if Junho knows who is in the picture. Junho answers Jung Hee. Surprised, Young Dal asks how he knew. Junho recalls the time he saw Jung Hee with her picture. Young Dal shares the boy in the picture is himself. It is now Junho's turn to be surprised.

Jung Hee tells her grandma about who Young Dal really is. Grandma is absolutely thrilled. She says they are really meant to be seeing how they were able to meet again. She asks about the other brothers. Jung Hee vaguely tells her about them. Grandma is so glad they were able to reunite. She tells Jung Hee to invite Young Dal over so they can relive memories together.

Yang Ha and Leader Bae are having a meeting. Leader Bae says they have to get rid of Young Dal, but believes Yang Ha can't do it on his own. He tells Yang Ha to alert Chairman of this. Yang Ha can't because he doesn't want to disappoint Chairman. He says he'll just have to do it on his own. Leader Bae is called into Pil Sang's office. Pil Sang says he knows all about Yang Ha's relationship with Young Dal from Leader Hwan, who heard it from Leader Bae. He questions if Leader Bae is still on Yang Ha's side after knowing this. Later, Leader Bae confronts Leader Hwan about why she told Pil Sang. She says she feels bad for him on wasting his time on Yang Ha. He questions if Pil Sang is trustworthy. She assures him he is and has what it takes to be heir.

Chairman wants an update on Yang Ha's plan. Yang Ha says he'll have Young Dal dismissed, but this isn't good enough for Chairman. Chairman says he'll take care of Young Dal.

Elder's attorney arrives to Young Dal's office with information on Elder's will. At the same time, Jin Soo is explaining to Yang Ha why Young Dal can't be dismissed. In the will, Elder declares all of his Dae-Jung shares will go to Young Dal. This essentially will make Young Dal untouchable. The attorney shares Elder's wish of having the shares donated to the poor after, when the time is right. Young Dal smiles as he remembers their conversation about greed.

One by one, the crew members are presented with a search warrant and are taken to the police station. Madame Jang, Man Kang, President Min, Man Bok, and Jang Soo's father are all making a scene at the station, demanding to know why they were all there.  Young Dal, Jerry, and Jang Soo soon arrive. The detective pulls Young Dal aside and tells him Bok Tae is responsible for this. Bok Tae wanted everything looked into to find any information that can send Young Dal to jail. Instead of worrying about himself, Young Dal asks what is going to happen to everyone. The detective says they will only do a light investigation before closing the case. Back at Dae-Jung, Young Dal shares his plan to take down Bok Tae. He going to get Bok Tae to lose all of his Dae-Jung shares. Junho approaches him and informs him the board meeting is canceled. Young Dal deducts Yang Ha must know about Elder's shares.

Pil Sang meets with Chairman. Chairman shares how there is no one he can trust. In business, family relationships don't matter. He believes Yang Ha doesn't know the real work Chairman and Pil Sang puts into the company. Pil Sang assures him he can be trusted. Chairman tells him to get rid of Young Dal. Afterwards, Pil Sang crosses paths with Yang Ha, who was going to meet with Chairman. He tells Yang Ha Chairman already left. He then tells him about the task Chairman asked him to do. He warns Yang Ha to take care of the investment deal quickly.

Dong Soo meets with Shin Hye. He thinks she is right about starting new, but he can't go with her until things with Dong Woo are resolved. He believes Chairman will destroy Yang Ha if they don't intervene. During their conversation, he gets a call. They think they have the suspect. It is most likely Pil Sang. After he hangs up, Dong Soo shares this information with Shin Hye.

Yang Ha is on the rooftop when he sees Pil Sang with Bok Tae's man. He overhears how they plan to use Jung Hee as bait. In order to have no witnesses, they plan to get rid of both Jung Hee and Young Dal.

At the dealer's lounge, the gals are playing a game to determine who will buy snacks. The seniors end up losing. Jung Hee gets a text from Young Dal, telling her to meet at the back door after work. At the same time, Young Dal gets the same text from Jung Hee. Dong Soo calls Young Dal to inform him about the case. He says the culprit is Pil Sang and that he is going to go verify the evidence.

Young Dal goes to confront Pil Sang. As soon as he sees him, Young Dal beats Pil Sang down. The crew arrive just in time to hold him back. Young Dal declares he will kill Pil Sang if Elder dies. Pil Sang acts dumb. Young Dal charges at him and says he is guilty. Pil Sang fires back that the police should be here by now if it were true. He says Young Dal will regret this and warns him to be prepared.

Jung Hee is making here way to the meeting spot when Yang Ha stops her. He asks to talk, but she shares she has somewhere to go. He asks if it is with Young Dal. She confirms and he asks where. Young Dal is waiting at the back door. Bok Tae's man is waiting in a car, watching Young Dal's moves. He starts the car and speeds towards Young Dal.

Thoughts:
Pil Sang is a bastard to say the least. His ambition is sky high. It is ridiculous how he is blinded by it. I don't know it stems from him feeling entitled in a way because his father was the co-founder of Dae-Jung or if he just likes a challenge.

I don't think Chairman even considers Pil Sang a possible heir. He is well aware of Pil Sang's ambition and uses him as a pawn. I think he pretends Pil Sang is a possible heir to get him to do his dirty work. Pil Sang, who is blinded by his own ambition sees it as an opportunity instead of a set up.

The Jung Hee/Young Dal relationship has grown on me. Their interactions in this episode were so flippin' cute.

Both Chairman and Bok Tae have it out for Young Dal. I wonder who will get to him first. Knowing the set up, I'm curious to how Yang Ha will (or won't) intervene.
