TRIANGLE Episode 17

When you get pushed down, you get back up again with vengeance.

Young Dal is looking at a picture of his father as he returns to Dae-Jung. He is greeted by a secretary, who escorts him to the Chairman's office. Chairman praises his plan. He mentions that he looks at a person's performance, not their past. There is a flashback scene where Dong Soo is telling him that they will do anything for money and reminds him they killed our father. Young Dal tells him there is one thing he is grateful about his past - he knows that whatever they can do, he can do even worse. Dong Soo apologizes to him. He is sorry for leaving. He didn't know they would've been separated for over 20 years.

Yang Ha is pondering about his loss when his aid reports to him. Chairman gave Young Dal all access to the villa suite. At the villa, Jerry and Jang Soo are amazed at the site. Young Dal warns them to not be too impressed. Leader Bae and Junho meet with Young Dal privately. Young Dal tells Leader Bae he knows all about him from President Min. He thanks them both for their help and asks Leader Bae to continue taking care of him since he considers them family. Leader Bae says he will do his absolute best. Young Dal has gathered everyone who has helped him for a dinner party at the villa. During his speech, Young Dal expresses his gratitude for everyone here despite having yet to succeed. He promises that he won't disappoint or let them down. After the dinner, Young Dal is looking gloomy. His friends ask why and he replies that he didn't invite the person he misses the most. The friends ask if he means Jung Hee. He replies back he meant grandma and Jung Hee's brothers.

It's another day at work. Leader Bae and Junho are by Young Dal's side, giving him their report. The biggest complaint from the clients is that certain VIP rooms are off limits. Young Dal has already looked into it and reveals that this isn't something they can resolve immediately since it involves the law. Junho pitches in that they need to enforce regulations to keep the lackeys out. Young Dal informs them that there are lackeys in every casino. All they can do is know when to cut it off. Jerry reports to the team that Jang Soo has left for Macau.

Bok Tae's man reports suspicious activity by President Min. Bok Tae gets a call from Dong Soo. Dong Soo basically gives a warning that he is coming for him and to prepare himself. Bok Tae counters that he can go after Young Dal. This aggravates Dong Soo, who warns him that he is dead if he touches Young Dal. Bok Tae is tempted, saying he has a debt to repay to Young Dal. Dong Soo gives him one last warning. If there is a debt, Bok Tae better take it up with him. Also if he valued his life, he won't dare touch Young Dal. Livid, Bok Tae orders his man to call a fella from Busan by the name of Myung Jae.

After the call, Dong Soo heads inside. Shin Hye nags him about resting. Dong Soo asks for an update on the orphanage director. Shin Hye found her, but the director has Alzheimer's and doesn't remember a thing. Dong Soo asks if this means it is impossible to find Dong Woo. Shin Hye breaks it to him that it won't be easy. She informs him that Young Dal met with their mother. From what she knows, his mother lives a tough life. She thinks it is best that they don't meet.

Jerry updates Young Dal about Macau. Jang Soo is flying back with the chairman of Myungahnsoo Group, which is the biggest high rolling group. Junho enters the office and informs the crew Pil Sang has been appointed as the new director of casino operations. Leader Hwan meets with Pil Sang and asks about his new position. He tells her Yang Ha has been demoted to customer care representative. He mentions the chairman has no problem getting rid of those who perform below standard. He takes this move as a step towards un-adopting Yang Ha.

Yang Ha is seen fishing at a lake. He thinks back to when he was demoted. In the flashback, Chairman names Pil Sang the new director. He says he wants Yang Ha to start over as a customer care representative. He tells Yang Ha to reflect about his loss. He leaves him with a warning; this new job can be taken away from him too.

Young Dal meets with Shin Hye. He tells her about Yang Ha's and Pil Sang's new positions. He wants to know why Chairman would do this as well as inquire about Pil Sang. She tells him about Yang Ha's adoption and how he was raised under strict rules and structures in order to become heir of Dae-Jung Group. She lets him know of Yang Ha's fear of being un-adopted since the Chairman has no problem with throwing him out if he doesn't live up to expectations. She thinks his demotion might be his first steps toward this. She explains Pil Sang as very ambitious. His ambitions are beyond him and his capabilities. She describes him as frightening and warns Young Dal to watch out for him.

Dong Soo meets with President Min and Man Bok. He thanks them for helping Young Dal. He questions why Man Bok switched out of Bok Tae's side. Man Bok explains that there isn't much to gangster's loyalty. He is taking a gamble on Young Dal now. Dong Soo asks President Min if they were really going to battle with Bok Tae. She explains that since her husband has been in jail, Bok Tae took over all the businesses and organizations in the area. This doesn't settle with her and she isn't going to let it go. Dong Soo warns them not to face off with Bok Tae head on. He says he will tell them Bok Tae's weak spots and suggests they start attacking him there first.

Myung Jae arrives to Bok Tae's office. Bok Tae informs him he has some issues going on and asks for help. Myung Jae isn't hesitant to offer his help, even willing to put his life on the line. Bok Tae is impressed and says kids these days don't know this kind of loyalty.

Jang Soo's father brags to Madame Jang and Man Kang about Young Dal's dinner party. They wanted to know why they weren't invited. Jang Soo's father informs them the dinner was for those who have helped Young Dal, which doesn't include them. Madame Jang declares they'll go meet him themselves. She explains that since Young Dal has had some success, it is only right that their casino reap some of the benefits.

Young Dal visits home. He is greeted by an excited grandma. He says that he isn't staying. Grandma asks if he is moving out, which he denies. Jung Hee's brother informs her Young Dal is here. She goes to meet him in his room as he is packing. Jung Hee vows that she will wait for him, but she is having a hard time. She asks if they can meet casually since she feels it is too hard to be apart. She breaks down saying she would rather he just reject her, saying although hard, she would accept it. She knows how risky his battle is, but can't just leave him. She calls him bad. Young Dal says nothing and just hugs her from behind.

Yang Ha is drinking by himself at a restaurant. Leader Bae comes to see him and asks if he even knows Pil Sang has taken over his job. He says he came here to challenge Yang Ha. He doesn't find his loss humiliating, but instead thinks of it as a bigger opportunity. He offers him a card and any information he'll ever need about Young Dal. Yang Ha is curious why he is doing all this. Leader Bae is confident that Yang Ha can win.

Young Dal is thinking of Jung Hee's words as he stares out the window of his office. He gets a call from Dong Soo, who is standing outside of their mother's restaurant. Dong Soo asks if he knows Myung Jae. He informs him Bok Tae called in Myung Jae. We learn that Myung Jae is a mob boss. Although he thinks Myung Jae won't go after Young Dal, Dong Soo tells him he should be careful. Dong Soo enters the restaurant and is rudely met with the young brat, who informs him the owner left for a delivery and that they were closed. Dong Soo says he'll wait and asks for a beer. The young brat gets in his face, but Dong Soo has him in a hold. The mother comes in yelling, telling them to call the police. Dong Soo reveals his identity - Jang Dong Soo. Mother tells the brat to leave. She asks how he found her and why he came. Dong Soo tells her to look at him when he talks. She avoids his gaze and asks what good it would do since she didn't even recognize him. She says she has nothing to say. Dong Soo asks if she really doesn't and yells at her to look at him while he is talking. Mother finally looks at him with tears in her eyes. She asks what right she has to look at him or say anything to him. Dong Soo looks at her with sadness and pity. The next scene we see Dong Soo walking the streets with tears streaming down and his mother bawling in the restaurant.

Yang Ha enters the new office. He assures everyone he is fine and asks to be filled in. He gets a text message from Leader Bae. They meet to talk about Young Dal's plan. Leader Bae informs Yang Ha that Jang Soo is coming back with the chairman of Myungahnsoo Group. If their plan succeeds they will be win the Chairman's approval. Leader Bae says they either have to stop the deal or take it over. Jung Hee and Yang Ha cross paths. They bow to each other and leave. Jung Hee calls out to him and asks if he is alright. Yang Ha can't believe she is showing interest in him now. He says things are a bit tough for him, but he doesn't want to show her he is struggling right now. He says he is thinking about his revenge after being humiliated by Young Dal. He thinks she should wait and watch this entertaining battle. Jung Hee stops him and asks if he can halt this battle. He hypothetically asks if he were to fail, would she show any sympathy. He already knows the answer to this. He says he won't get sappy around her anymore and tells her to stop showing interest.

Young Dal is practicing his golf game when Myung Jae appears in front of him. Myung Jae cuts to the chase - stop everything you are planning to do. Young Dal says they don't have anything to do with each other. Myung Jae explains that although that may have been the case before, they have business with each other now since he owes Bok Tae. Young Dal tells him to pay back Bok Tae in another way. Myung Jae tells him to stand behind his words.

Dong Soo rushes in to meet with Shin Hye. He finds out the orphanage director remembers him. Shin Hye says they can't rush things or else she might revert. She asks how it went with his mother. His mother went to look for them at the orphanage after hearing about their father's death. She was too late. Dong Soo says his mother only knows that Dong Woo was adopted by someone who was rich from the mining business. It hits her. Shin Hye asks what if it was Dong-Jin Mines. Dong Soo counters that although Chairman was a crazy bastard, he wouldn't adopt the son of the man he murdered.

Chairman Sung's daughter came to see Yang Ha. She asks Young Dal and his crew where Yang Ha's office was. After she leaves, Young Dal asks Junho who she was. He informs him she is the daughter of the chairman of Hanchang Group. Hanchang Group owns Lucky Casino in Seoul and other casinos in Jeju Island and Busan. She meets Yang Ha in a corridor. He tells her he needs her father's help. She is disappointed that this was the reason he called her. Yang Ha promises that if the plan succeeds, she can have whatever she wants from him. After his meeting, Yang Ha finds Leader Bae in the office. He says that things were going their way. As they are talking, Junho enters the office and sees them together.

After his encounter, Young Dal goes to meet with President Min and Man Bok. They think this is serious if Myung Jae sought him out. Young Dal doesn't want Dong Soo to know about this. Knowing Myung Jae, Man Bok says he'll probably go after the person Young Dal cares about the most. President Min and Man Bok think this means Dong Soo. One person was missing from the meeting earlier - President Min's man, Hyun Tak. He was taken by Myung Jae, who wants to know why he switched sides. Myung Jae says that he can't forgive traitors as Hyun Tak keeps apologizing. Myung Jae threatens him - if you want to live, you know what you have to do.

Now in his office, Young Dal thinks about Man Bok's deduction. Jerry storms into the office - Jang Soo has disappeared.

What they don't know is Yang Ha just stole their deal right from under them.

Jung Hee is off work. Suddenly a car comes to a screeching stop next to her. Men come out and drag her into the car. Yang Ha witnesses this and chases after the van.

Thoughts:
Despite his new position, Young Dal doesn't forget to thank those who helped him along the way. Even though he has revenge on his mind, it hasn't become his world. Meaning it hasn't changed him completely, but you never know... this might change.

The demotion was unexpected from me. I knew that Chairman would probably have had a fit, but I didn't think he would be ruthless in demoting him. This becomes an example of how he sees Yang Ha as the heir and not his son. I feel bad for Yang Ha. He already has the constant fear of being abandoned one day. So this can put him on edge.

Leader Bae's actions on the other hand were expected. He didn't like the fact that he was fooled. When Young Dal was talking about considering him family, Leader Bae's facial expression was enough to tell he wasn't on Young Dal's side. I liked how he went to challenge Yang Ha, which was something Yang Ha definitely needed or else he would have fallen into a slump.

The meeting between Dong Soo and his mother was heartbreaking. I wish we could have seen more of their conversation.

Yang Ha shut Jung Hee down, which is understandable. She made it clear time after time that she isn't interested. I commend Yang Ha for opening up and putting himself out there, but there comes a point where you need to stop if it isn't going to happen. He's putting up a front, but will it all come down after witnessing Jung Hee's kidnapping?
