In View: The King's Face

Synopsis: One's face tells a lot including whether he is fit to be king. The current king does not have the right face for the position, but he does everything he has to do to keep this spot. His son, on the other hand, has the face of a king. When one group secretly plans out the dethroning of the king, will the rightful king be able to take the throne? Or will it be a head-to-head match between the king and his son for the same love interest as well as the throne?

Thoughts:
I decided to watch this show on a whim. What caught my attention was the use of physiognomy in the plot. The plot seems reminiscent to the movie "The Face Reader." I've done some research and it seems like the writers of the movie approached the network, KBS about doing a drama spin-off of the movie, but ultimately they had a falling out. After learning of the show and taking the network to court, KBS was found not guilty of plagiarism. Personally, I think the synopsis has some similarities (plus some actors are in both works), but one important difference is the main perspective (face reader in the movie vs. crown prince in the drama).

Back to the show... it is quite fast paced for just 2 episodes. This can be a good or bad thing. Sure we get some of the back stories out of the way, but what happens to the pace of the rest of the story? I have a feeling the story set up is going to take a few more episodes before we get a better view of how the story will go.

In comparison to the other dramas I'm checking out, this drama will likely end up on the back burner. The drama just didn't grab me like some other shows I've checked out. But this may not mean it'll be a bad drama. Just a feeling I have.

Verdict:
If you are into historical dramas, maybe give this drama a try.
If you aren't into any of the current dramas, then you can give it a try as well.
